Oakland, TN - “Oakland TN was established in 1830 on both sides of Stage Road, a road running from Memphis through Raleigh, through Oakland and on to Somerville. Dr. James A. Hunter erected the first house and he and his brothers opened the first dry goods store. Park Locations:
Cypress Creek
Located on Highway 194 South, just south of West Junior High, Cypress Creek Park is a multi-use sports facility which includes a baseball field and room for soccer fields in season. It also has picnic facilities, permanent restrooms, a kiddie playground, portable bleachers and a concession stand. All Parks are open Dawn to Dusk.
The Oaklands
Situated in The Oaklands subdivision off Highway 64 on the West end of town, The Oaklands Town Park has a 1300 foot paved walking trail around a 3 acre pond which is stocked with crappie and bass. It includes a kiddie playground, picnic facilities, and a 16 x 24 pavilion, which can be reserved by calling us at 465-8523. This park is the home of our annual Youth Fishing Rodeo held in partnership with the Fayette County Bass Club. All Parks are open Dawn to Dusk.
Oakland Woods
Nestled in The Oakland Woods subdivision on the East end of town, Oakland Woods Parks includes a 1250 ft walking trail encompassing a stocked 2 acre pond for your fishing pleasure. All Parks are open Dawn to Dusk.
Northwoods
Sited adjacent to Northwood Estates on Highway 194 North, Northwoods Park presently has an extensive walking trail bordering a large pond stocked for fishing along with benches to sit and appreciate the serenity of the fountain. Improvements are continuing. All parks are open Dawn to Dusk.
